Baked Pears with Rum Custard
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup orange juice or sauterne wine
- Pinches of nutmeg
Directions
Combine the dates and walnuts and spoon into pear centers. Dot with butter, drizzle with honey and place in a baking dish. Pour orange juice or wine into the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve with Rum Custard Sauce.
Rum Custard Sauce: Combine 1 cup milk, 2 slightly beaten egg yolks, 2 tablespoons sugar, a dash of salt and 1 teaspoon rum extract. Cook over low heat until thick. Serve warm.
