Poached Pears with Orange Sauce
Ingredients
- 6 Royal Riviera® Pears
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 to 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur
Directions
Pare and core pears, leaving stems intact. Combine water, orange juice and sugar. Bring to boil; simmer 5 minutes. Add pears and poach gently 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. Remove pears from poaching liquid; reserve 1/2 cup liquid. Cool pears and poaching liquid. Beat butter with powdered sugar until light; beat in eggs. Blend in reserved poaching liquid. Cook and stir over low heat 8 to 10 minutes or until sauce thickens and coats metal spoon. Stir in liqueur. Serve warm or cold over poached pears.
